Food review for Nawabs civil lines
Nawabs
Located at almost the center of Nagpur, surrounded by government as well as corporate offices both, it is expected to be a crowded place for ever, but to my surprise, I was the only one to be there for the entire lunch time, this might be because of the COVID situation or the ratings Nawabs is getting lately. Good thing is a valet which will make parking space easily available for this restaurant.
For the interiors, this place is neat, tidy and simple which I liked mostly. Staff here is overwhelming and polite, you will be welcomed here and will be entertained appropriately.
Menu -
Though it is a Mughlai restaurant, it has many other options than Kababs and curries, you could even find Kolhapuri and Chinese food in their list. Specials at Nawabs also has a wide range from Haleem to Paaya. However the strange thing is there are only two options for deserts, Gajar ka Halwa and Firni.
I also felt the restaurant to be a little costlier than what they really are offering.
About the Chef -
Chef Rajiv hails from MP and has an experience of about 10yrs in the food industry. He came to Nagpur on about 5 years back and stayed along.
Food I ate -
I wanted to go for a three course meal however, Biryani and Deserts were not really available, the reason I wanted to visit this place is because of the dish, "Nalli Nihari" as I heard this is a place where Nihari is served as specials I couldn't stop myself but to visit it by myself though I had not good reviews from the ones who were already been here.
1.
Nalli Nihari [Rs. 460] | Authenticity: Lakhnawi Delicacy, slowly cooked for 3-4 hrs with spices like, Galangal (Thi Ginger) and Kulanjan, Smooth in taste and boosts energy throughout the day.
In Nawabs, Mutton was pressure cooked, not fresh, chewie which I had to swallow afterwards.
For the authenticity Mustered oil was used but it was normalised which is good. In the masala, thi ginger and Pipli were used nicely blended so that you wouldn't mind the unusual masalas of Nihari.
Nawabs motto is to make their customers feel Royal, this was definitely not my experience, to leave up to this motto they have to boost up their chefs morale and start serving fresh meat to the customers.
I am not sure if I can visit this place again in near future, but I hope Nawabs realizes where they are heading to.
